Dominic Barry

Birthday - 7/3/94
183cm/78kg
Club - North Ballarat Rebels/Melbourne
Price/Position - $108,500 Mid

Barry has come from the clouds, or more specifically the APY Lands to find himself on the 2013 Melbourne list. A talented tennis player, it has taken him until this year to overcome a poor attitude and find his football groove. His performances in the Under 18 Championships were positive, averaging 18 touches and 75.2 DT. Meanwhile Dom played 12 games for North Ballarat this season, being named in the best twice and scoring 58, 52, 96, 34, 64, 39, 41, 21, 48, 33, 34 and 57 (Ave: 48.1). Those numbers suggest he has a long way to go to get anywhere near DT relevance.

Kevin Sheehan says: “Medium midfielder with accurate left foot and excellent natural pace and endurance. His run and carry and evasiveness were features of his performances for the NT, averaging 18.4 disposals across the at NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.”

Great work here Mr.C.  ;)

Cheers. There's probably a few more guys I should do but I'll most likely wait until draft day and then do a thorough update.

Youve done very well already, we got some good people here donating their time doing profiles your certainly one of them.
Appreciate it all mate, hope your getting your share of gratitude.

Sensational work Mr Craig! Looks to be plenty of awesome cash cows this year. Ecspeccially in the mids. O'meara, Wines, Hvorat and Crouch leading the way for me. Colquhoun looks to be a jet in defence if he is a round 1 starter.

Cheers Hagebear. There's been some doomsayers suggesting the lack of a new team will severely limit the amount of viable rookie choices. However, we had great non-GWS rooks last season like Zorko, Gibson, Morris, Horsley, Magner etc. and this draft should be a bit stronger with excellent depth...plus we already have Crouch and O'Meara in the bank.

So I agree there'll be a clutch of good kids and maybe the odd mature-ager who can make an immediate impact. I'm counting down the days until November 22! :D

That's true, but the other teams have a better crack at the best talent this season so we'll likely see more rookie debuts in the non expansion sides. Plus mature agers like Martin, Cook, Lee, Towers, Osborne and Marcon could get an opportunity.

Marco Paparone

Birthday - 3/9/94
193cm/84kg
East Fremantle
Price/Position - $107,200 Fwd/Mid

Drafted Round 1 Pick 23 Brisbane

While the likes of Stringer and Mayes are getting most of the media attention, Paparone is another tall, agile half-forward who should be on the radars of a few AFL clubs. He was a consistent performer at the Under 18 carnival, kicking 6 goals and averaging 16 touchs for DT scores of 79, 98, 52 and 86 from his 4 games. Meanwhile in the W.A Colts competition he dominated, winning the East Freo B+F, booting 45 goal in 17 matches and averaging 17 disposals.

2012 Scores: 91, 112, 74, 128, 111, 121, 81, 69, 141, 91, 36, 91, 88, 89, 78, 68, 107 (Ave: 92.7)

Unfortunately a knee injury has limited his role in the state combine but he has already shown plenty of athletic prowess which should lead to him getting some senior opportunities with Brisbane. The possibility of DPP status will further enhance his appeal should he play in 2013.

Kevin Sheehan says: “Tall forward with elite endurance (15+ beep) which allows him to keep presenting up forward or to play midfield which he did in the final game of the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. Dangerous around goal and creative player who averaged 16 disposals, four marks and 1.5 goals per game for WA this year.”

WA talent manager Raff Guadagnino says: Marco has elite endurance and has the ability to wear down opponents. He's a midfielder-forward who is strong overhead and can get outside well. For a boy of his size, he has excellent athletic attributes.

He's the reason the Bulldogs wanted Hawthorn's pick 21.
Former Bulldog Steve Kretuik coaches him at the Jets.
The same team Lachie Hunter plays for. Simon Dalrymple is all over this guy.
He probably won't play in 2013 as he needs to work on his strength and tank but he is an exciting prospect.

Spencer White

Birthday - 22/9/94
195cm/90kg
Western Jets
Price/Position - $102,700 Fwd

Drafted Round 2 Pick 25 St Kilda

Spencer didn't play a part in the Under 18 Championships but the strong marking forward has raised eyebrows with his combine results, along with some good TAC form. In 16 games for the Western Jets he slotted 36.12 and put in DT scores of 45, 33, 75, 52, 25, 69, 92, 77, 84, 61, 70, 53, 41, 64, 79 and 68 (Ave: 61.7). If the comparisons to Buddy hold true then you can expect a Dream Team average in the 50's for a couple of years before he finds his feet.

Western Jets coach Steve Kretiuk says: "There were some really good forwards who played in the TAC Cup this year but Spence has got a lot more in his favour. He's really dynamic, he's got genuine X factor, and he's got a lot of attributes that most players haven’t got. He'll take a couple of years to physically and mentally get up to AFL standard, but once he matures he's going to be a pretty exciting player. He certainly excited us this year. His highlights package would be unbelievable. Some of the things he did reminded me of Buddy Franklin. Tall, quick, left foot, take 'em on - very much like Buddy."
