Oliver Wines

Birthday - 7/10/94
185cm/83kg
Team - Bendigo Pioneers
Fanplanner Price - $148,200

Wines is considered one of the most AFL-ready players in this year's batch of midfield prospects. He works hard on the inside, reads the play well and has excellent endurance. DT coaches will also be pleased to hear that he loves to tackle, racking up 13 in one game this season. He averaged 24.2 disposals for Vic Country in the Under 18 Championships and was named an All Australian. Still not convinced? Here's his Dream Team scores from the 2012 TAC Cup - 138, 129, 60, 138, 119, 146, 92, 95, 125 and 112. He was named in the best for all but one of those games.

Kevin Sheehan says: “Strong medium midfielder with a distinct hard edge that wins him contested ball, including at the stoppages. Has elite endurance and can push forward and hit the scoreboard. Ferocious tackler who is a good overhead mark and prolific ball winner. Averaged 24.2 disposals for Vic Country in thr NAB AFL Under-18 Championships this year, winning All-Australian honours. AIS-AFL Academy Graduate.”

WOW great work Mr.Craig! Going to have to read through the whole thread!
Also I like Wines, do you think he is any chance to land at Richmond at #9?
Also who else do you think Richmond will be after at pick 9?

Thanks mate. There's a good chance Wines could end up at Richmond if that's the type of player they have their hearts set on. Here's some of the predicted picks made in the mock drafts over at BigFooty -

Pick 9 - Ben Kennedy, Oliver Wines, Lachie Plowman, Jackson Mcrae, Sam Mayes

Pick 29 - Tim Sumner, Tim Membrey, Tim Broomhead, Rory Atkins

Pick 31 - Andrew Boston, Liam McBean, Nick Graham, Dean Towers, Jason Pongracic

Pick 50 - Emmanuel Irra, Patrick Wilson, Tim O'Brien, Tom Tyquin

Pick 68 - Harrison Marsh, Aidan Corr, Myke Cook

Pick 86 - Lewis Pierce, Ashlin Brown, Cameron Banfield

Obviously those picks might change depending on what shenanigans Richmond gets up to in trade week. :D

#93
Tim Broomhead

Birthday - 22/3/94
182cm/73kg
Port Adelaide
Price/Position - $107,200 Mid

Drafted Round 1 Pick 20 Collingwood

Another one of the multitude of medium midfielders available for selection in the 2012 draft, Broomhead has been playing for the Port reserves this year while also getting a number of opportunities in the senior side. He's been named in the best a few times while regularly chipping in with a goal or two. His form in the Under 18 Champs was patchy with 22 disposals (74DT), 16 disposals (45DT) , 12 disposals (43DT), 11 disposals (26DT) and 15 disposals (60DT). Here are his SANFL numbers -

Reserves - 96, 50, 92, 99, 88, 101 (Ave: 87.6)
Seniors - 34, 55, 50, 42, 48, 76, 36, 34, 45, 75 (Ave: 49.5)

Being a midfielder, and being at Collingwood I strongly doubt Broomhead can be DT relevant this year but you never know.

Kevin Sheehan says: “Medium midfielder with excellent speed, vision and composure with the ball. Averaged 15.2 disposals at 77% efficiency during the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships playing an important role for SA in their midfield rotations.”

Mr Craig, you've elevated your status to that of LaHug, Colli and Noz. Top effort mate, and invaluable resource. Sticky this please!

Marvellous work MrC.

This thread ought to be pinned with a sticky, IMHO.

Good idea, will b really helpful during **nat draft in xv's

Scrads

Just throwing it out there Kane Mitchell is pretty much a dead-set comparison with Kyal Horsely from this time last year ;)

Mr.Craig

Cheers all and thanks heaps LaHug for taking the time to do the links. 8)

I'll get around to a couple more profiles soon. There's probably only half a dozen more guys that I think are genuine chances of being DT relevant but I'm sure there'll be others that come out of the woodwork between now and March.

#102
Kyle Martin

Birthday - 17/9/90
182cm/81kg
Club - Frankston Dolphins
Price/Position - $103,300 Mid

Drafted - Pick 13 Rookie Draft Collingwood

Guess what? Another medium midfielder! Martin had a stellar 2012 season which saw him rise from suburban footy to gain selection in the VFL Team Of The Year along with the Victorian state squad. He also won the Dolphins best and fairest and narrowly missed out on the VFL Coaches Player Of The Year award. Kyle's stats this year are very tasty indeed, averaging 24 touches, 5 marks and 4.7 tackles per game while also kicking 13 goals. With DT scores of 113, 100, 106, 80, 141, 127, 58, 136, 137, 146, 120, 112, 60, 128, 101, 150 and 85 (Ave: 111.7) he is certainly one to watch.

AFL.Com - Dolphins coach Simon Goosey had to work hard to persuade Martin to leave south-east suburban club Noble Park, but the 21-year-old has made the step up to VFL level with telling effect. At 182cm, he's a tough, in-and-under player who, despite playing in a team that's on the bottom of the ladder, gets tagged more often than not.

Mr.Craig

I've added a couple of recent AFL.com articles to the profiles of Troy Menzel and Dayle Garlett. They are at the top of their respective "Media" sections.
