Travis Varcoe - Geelong Cats

Position: FWD

Price: $153,500 (Fanplanner)

2011 Games: 21

2012 Games: 1

2011 Average: 65

2012 Average: 9

2012 Tons: -

Summary: We know this guys has talent and he has scoring potential as well. Knocked up a very handy 76 average in 2010 and was touted as the Ablett replacement through the midfield. Average dropped off a little last year before lingering foot injuries set in. For a player of this quality and at this price - he's hard to ignore.

Verdict: A Lock given his pre-season runs smoothly.

Ele's prediction: Going to be conservative - 73.

Hmm dunno about this one, will monitor through the preseason. :)

Cicjose

one i liked last year but its difficult to predict how he will go with a Geelong team expected to finally decline after a stellar run

wishing he was fit more often tho

Hagebear

Pretty much rookie price. If he has a solid pre season he will be definately in my round 1 team.

elephants

The most promising thing about him is the fact, if fit, he'll play 22 games.

to the person who thinks geelong will decline, im not sure if im the only one but i think geelong will be better next year han this year. geelong have had menzel, vardy and varcoe, one of there most important players, out all year, and i genuinely think they will be a top four threat again next year. Anyone else thinking this

I think they'll hang around 6th-10th for the next 2-3 years. You're right, they have some quality youth but at the same time Scarlett, Chappy and Steve J are lads that aren't easily replaced.

Adamant

Not sure about Varcoe, will keep an eye on NAB form

Scrads

Locking him in if he is close to that price.

Solid forward option, he seems like a good sub but would he really be the sub for them ?

Adamant

WOW, I didnt even look at the price! 150k, hmmm  8)

elephants

Hehe one game of 9 points will do that to ya!

Ricochet

at that price for a guy who has hit a 75 average and solid JS if fit = lock

Zombie2.5

For a little more than a rookie price, to get an experienced senior player, fit and almost certain to play 20+ games now, he has to be a lock. Will be great for cash generation with that extra JS over a rookie, plus good for 70+ scores/average. A LOCK!!

LaHug

Absolute lock 100% at that price (assuming he's playing round 1 and makes it through preseason unscathed)
