Christian Howard - Western Bulldogs

Position: BACK

Price: $283,300 (Fanplanner)

2011 Games: 6

2012 Games: 11

2011 Average: 50.6 (many vests though)

2012 Average: 60 (also a few vests)

2012 Tons: 1

Summary: Another one of those highly rated young running backmen. I feel like next year could be his year. The trust third year breakout rule is in effect and with rebounders Hargrave and Gilbee calling it quits, there are spots opening up. The Dogs aren't afraid to play the youngsters and this fella is right up there in my opinion. A handy ton against the Cats in round 22 was impressive!

Verdict: I like the mid-price backmen and this is one lad I'll consider. Shortlisted.

Ele's prediction: Expect great improvement - Average of 77.

Adamant

Massive potential, will keep an eye on NAB.

Nice write up Ele! Certainly in consideration. :)

Kellogscrunchynut

With limited options in defence for next season he may become a very handy unique pick, anyways goodnight and cheers for all of the articles that you and others have put up tonight they have been splendid.

The It

Started with him this year and burnt me hard with his early injury. Doubt i could do it again

Zombie2.5

Sounds good for me. I looked at him this year, and he looked so tasty, but I remembered it was only his second year, so didn't jump on :)

Would've picked him up for sure this year if it was his third, and since next year it will be, and he should still be a very cheap midpricer, he's almost a lock for me at this stage. Have a good feeling, and a bit of your research le, has made it sound even better! The doggies will probably look to develop some youngsters, and I can't see him missing out.

Ricochet

Goddard, Grimes, Gibbs, Birchall, Suckling, Duffield, Waters, Hanley and a few others all ahead of him on my list

You can't fit all those guys in ahead of him though.. They should all be $100k-200k more shouldn't they?
So wouldn't you be able to fit Howard in as a midpricer, along with 3 or 4 of those guys mentioned?

I also started with him and kept him for a couple of weeks expecting that he would only be out for 2-3. Locked for me this year, will average over 80 and be a keeper.

Lock him in, no more hargrave or gilbee means more ball for him

Or Lake.

Is there actually anyone left back there to give the ball to him now?

Spinking

The trade of Lake, and the other retirements have left a lot of holes in the Doggies defence. My main question is what role he will play. If he starts running it out of defence, and linking up with the kick ins - Im locking him in.
