Let me start by saying an undisclosed source & I am not trolling....

Apparently Buddy wasn't named because he has had his third strike on a drug test. Will be out rest of the season if true.

I had to trade one of robbo or buddy last week and made the wrong choice if this is the case. Guess my POD will now be bench fodder. >:(

i also heard this rumour yesterday morning. something along the lines of hawks tested him and he failed so they're keeping him out thinking that he's less likely to be tested if he's not playing

i got that same email that's going round atm. doubt there's anything behind it.

if he wasn't going to play for the rest of the year they wouldn't have said it was a hammy done during a game, they'd say something like pcl tweak at training, out for the year, imo.

agreed but his injury (5 weeks ago) didn't look that bad so either they are resting him for finals...
But his so close to the Coleman medal you'd reckon Buddy would be doing his all to get back on the park.

Finally someone else has brought this up first. I didn't wan't to be the first one then get shot down by hawks fans.
Got told by a friend at the club five weeks ago he got his third strike and to try to hide there would be a mystery injury against gws. This would keep him out for at least the next five rounds.
Obviously i was sceptical as you hear these sort of rumours all the time. I did rase an eyebrow when Gunston was named as the sub.(key position players not often sub). Dont't get me wrong, i had little faith in this story so much that buddy is still in my supercoach team.
Seams to me now that everyone is talking about this but no one is talking about this. If you know what i mean.

I've got it on a rumour Jonathan Brown died last week.

I put money on Franklin this week for the coleman, hoping that getting in before he was named in the team would score me some better odds. Money down the drain  :-[  (not much luckily  ;) but hope he comes back and bags another 13!  ::)

I've got it on a rumor you are a knob nails........ Rumor confirmed.

I would've thought that he would be getting regularly tested by the AFL regardless of whether he was lining up for the week or not.

I remember Swanny last year saying that the AFL tested rocked up at his house at all hours of the night.  Yes Swanny was playing during this time but surely just because you're injured/rested doesn't exclude you from AFL drug testing...

Sauce?

Mr.Craig

If he failed an AFL sanctioned test for the third time then it would "result in direct referral to the AFL Football Operations General Manager" and "Any player who does not respond to counselling and treatment programs - and who has failed a test for the third time - is subject to a financial sanction of $5000 and a suspension of up to 18 matches.". I refuse to believe that the AFL are aware of a third strike and are choosing not to act on this information.

If as suggested he failed a drug test performed by the club, was already on two strikes and is being protected from further official testing through the subterfuge of injury - I simply don't buy it. The AFL would already be target testing him if he was on two strikes and if anything they'd focus more on those type of players during extended injury periods when temptation might prove to be greater.

Sadly it wouldn't shock me if he did get a third strike but I don't have any reason to believe it so far based on what's been said and written.

lollipop man

wait, does Franklin actually have a confirmed 2 strikes though?

We'll probably never know unless he gets a third strike because that's the only instance when it's allowed to be made public.
