Ziplock

I'm seriously cracking it with all the broughton threads? Like I have him, but the threads are honest to god pissing me off more than anything else. Just scan through the first 2 or 3 pages and pick one of like 8 threads. Seriously, it's just frustrating.

you know what, I've cracked it enough that I'm just going to summarise pretty much everything

two scenarios for broughton this season
1) he remains in lockdown role
2) at some point he swaps to HB or midfield, probably due to injury to a mid or hb like duffield and starts pumping out huge scores.

will this happen? who knows, flip a coin- odds are he'll have some huge midfield games, but imo it looks like he's more likely to stay in shutdown. If you're trading him you in essence have three (or 4) options- upgrade, straight swap, downgrade (to a midpricer or rookie).

Upgrade targets- Goddard, Deledio, Carrazzo, Birchall, Scotland, Suckling- all relatively proven(ish) guns who have been scoring solid... kind of anyway, personally with the exception of god and lids I have beef with all those picks for varying reasons, but I'm not burning up this season atm so, clearly my evaluation of some premos was off.

Straight swap- players around the 415k mark- Houli, Adcock, Hanley, Fisher, Heppell.  Tbh, I would only be considering the first three for trade ins at this stage- adcock and hanley could get more mid/ dt friendly roles considering lions issues with their mids/ injurys, and returning defenders, and the backline for richmond is looking DT friendly atm for houli . Heppell is a risk that was worth STARTING with, but he hasnt shone enough atm to warrant trading in. Fisher is just a sub-par quasi premo.

Downgrade Midpricer- Basically we're looking at substantially under the 400k bracket (aka under 80 average last year). You have, scoring well for their price, Hurn, Rance, Waters, Newman, A Johnson, Yarran, M Johnson, Malceski, Murphy, Hargrave, Firrito, SD Thompson, Dempsey, Geary

A few of these can just be chopped out straight off
Hurn- He's been average for over half a dozen years, lets face it, had a mammoth game last week and an ok game the week before- both against poor opponents. Pass.
Rance- KPB who's average is skewed by a single massive score- at best, rollercoaster, more likely a one off anomaly.
Newman- 30 years old and has never been a DTer. Also had average warped by one large game.
M Johnson- 28 years old, KPB, always been a mediocre fantasy footballer- pass.
Murphy- has never hit that premium status, and while being underpriced, he's still old, and too costly to burn the trade on his scoring potential
Firrito- See M Johnson.
SD Thompson- Warped average vs GWS, KPB. Pass.

This really leaves Waters,  A Johnson, Yarran,  Malceski,  Hargrave, Dempsey, Geary who could be viable downgrades
Waters, Hargrave, Malceski are all proven scorers who have their prices discounted through injury and bad seasons etc. In scoring potential, I would probably go Waters, Malceski, Hargrave, but in chance to play out a whole season, probably Hargrave, Waters, Malceski. All depends on the pricing.
A Johnson- second year player, but looking cheap and consistent enough for a punt. That being said, hargrave is cheaper, and more proven.
Yarran- is a high draft pick, has also been very consistent, but hasn't really played quality opposition yet. Another player, like heppell, that would have been a solid starting risk, but is really too expensive to justify trading in.
Dempsey- another underpriced backman, who's shown he can post good scores when fit (but not premium ones)- that being said, is only 25 years old this year, so could very well break out. Cheap enough for a punt.
Geary- Super cheap and quite consistent, but hasn't really shown anything against quality opposition. Not for me.
Brian Lake- Deserves a mention. His inconsistency is highlighted by his mammoth score this round, and pathetic one last round. Looks like a bit of heart ache.
To establish, from that list, I can see Waters, Hargrave, Malceski and Dempsey being valid picks.

DowngradeRookies- This will free up a load of cash- unfortunately aren't heaps of options.
Bugg, Bower, Clarke, Mohr, Hombsch, Morris, Ellis
Clarke, Bower- Obviously not rooks, and are relatively proven scorers. Either worth a shot- clarkes JS is better.
Bugg, Mohr, Hombsch- Mohr and Bugg are ahead of Hombsch in JS and scoring potential. Those two probably the best rookies out there atm.
Morris, Ellis- Richmond must put faith in them after their horror debut, worth a bench spot, wouldn't want to field them

Basically, if you want my best of the picks.
Upgrade- Deledio, Goddard, Scotland
Straight Swap- Hanley, Houli, Adcock
Downgrade (mid)- Waters, Hargrave, Malceski, Dempsey
Downgrade (rook)- Bugg, Clarke, Bower, Mohr

there we go, problem solved. Everyone can stfu now. Sticky this shower or something so people get the idea.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING- nobody flowering knows whats going to happen to broughtons flowering role! atm, it looks more shutdown, but seriously. Its coming down to a gut feeling atm.
Second most important thing- this can kind of be applied to golby (for the midpricer as straight swap and rookies), and to shaw as well (although he's more certain to come good)- just heads up.

Capper

good call, but the difference between B and Shaw is that Shaw will likely bet on his role changing and be suspended

nice one ziplock...

but maybe u should go for a relaxing walk to cool down

The Grundles

JFYI

Broughton's scores last year:

1 - 79
2 - 61
3 - 56
4 - 55
5 - DNP
6 - BYE
7 - 50
8 - 71
9 - 92
10 - 120
11 - 117
12 - 90
13 - 46
14 - 139
15 - 149
16 - BYE
17 - 114
18 - 96
19 - 102
20 - 57
21 - 71
22 - 51
23 - 62
24 - 89

Basically what this sums up is he is one inconsistant bugger and you just don't know what you're gonna get with him.  Huge ceiling and basement bottom...if you took the risk, stick with him, it could pay off...if not...perhaps wait until round 10 to trade him in ;)

LOL Zip - i think everyone on here knows everything you posted - although great effort,

what they all want and what all the threads are about is, gaining reasurance that trading him to who they are thinking OR keeping him, is the right thing to do....

I got on him = idiot = i had a rant and a rave about him = now i got off him = done = simple = end of story.

Again nice write up :) but people will still ask for opinions  ;D more broughton threads to come i'd expect LOL.
