After 2 rounds i have had mixed results

Round one i managed to crack the 2K mark which i was pretty happy about but round 2 i finish with 1700. Pretty disapointing really but that was due to a few factors one of which being i didnt have an emergency set for mumford

I have made 3 trades so far after 2 rounds

I traded:

Cripps- Kennedy (After round 1)
Broughton- Clarke( After round 2)
Hoskin-Elliot- S.Selwood (after round 2)

With the Selwood trade i tried to grab my first midfielder that i am going to keep all season and since hoskin-Elliot was Dropped seemed like a good trade.  I have also thrown the big C on him given they are playing GWS.Things are also looking up this round with bock returning as i have had him on my bench the last 2 rounds

As it Stands my team now looks like this

B- Goddard(VC), Deledio, Shaw, Hanley, Bugg, Bock, Clarke (Ellis, Bouman)
M- S. Selwood (C), Magner, McCarthy, Coniglio, Caddy, Shiel (Smith, Ledger)
R- Natinui, Mumford (Giles, Stephensen)
F- Franklin, Fyfe, Cloke, Pavlich, Kennedy, Stevie J, Martin (Smith, Folau)

CAP LEFT- 114 000

Please leave your thoughts and ill keep you all updated

Cheers

Scotland's way over priced think your better of with Goddard.
Very risky in the mids. Maybe try & get Parker from the Swans in if your hell bent on this way.
Rucks solid. Great.
Not a huge fan of Cloke but hey thats just me.

Very unique. Think you might be chasing the pack with that midfield thou.
Good luck with it.

Thanks mate. I couldnt decide between scotland and goddard. Scotland had better pre season form so im not sure.

thanks for the comment though. please keep them comming

Downgrade a backmen to at least get one captain material midfielder.. backline rookies aren't that bad

SilentBob

Like you said in your comment, similar structure to my SC team with the 8 rookies in the midfield.

With this structure you need to make up points with your 5-7 players in each position & I'm not sure that Smith & Hanley are going to be good enough to bridge the gap (though I could be wrong!).
Also not sure about Folau on the Fwd bench ... but might be worth the gamble ...
Is Mumford consistent enough to have the (C) each week? What's the alternative?

TheAnt

Impromtus rookie midfield stratergy worked because there were so many good options that year, I don't know, I cant expect anyone in that midfield to average anything more then even 95 if you're really lucky.

Alternative to mumford as captain is probobly buddy or scotland. Im thinking about trading scotland for goddard though. what does everyone think?

as for hanley i wasnt to sure on him but his preseason numbers are good i think he is ready for a breakout year

boneman

Def: Hanley is a good pick considering his pre season, numbers look good. Maybe switch Scotland he is pricey and I don't think will hit the heights of previous years

Mid: Risk v Reward not sure how to comment, it's very unique could ruin you or do the opposite and be a master stroke

Ruck: Solid and Luey will hopefully match his stats from last season

For: Pick either Sidebottom or Dangers not both, upgrade the other. I would go with Dangerfield easier draw could smash it!

TheAnt

The problem is that the midfield has the biggest scoring output amongst premiums.

hahaha cheers mate. Just not sure if i start ledger or stevens.

who knows if it will pay off but its all fun

i would like it if you replace a midfield rookies with a lock captain everyweek like pendlebury or ablett.

Ringo

This is an interesting Strategy - You team is a lot better than another I saw going with the same strategy.
Do not Mind Scotland to Goddard.
I would also consider getting in a Mid prem as Perm Capt though,  Ablett, Swan or Pendles.  Even with Mumford as Captain you will be giving away possibly 100+ points per week.

I would look at downgrading one of Yarran, Hanley, Sidebottom or Dangerfield to a rookie and upgrade Wingard to a prem.  Suspect Wingard will be vest material for the first few rounds if the coach's comments on his fitness can be believed.

If bringing in a mid prem see  12 definite prems with others possible. If retaining these can see maximum 14/16 trades to finalise a prem team all going well.

Risky strategy which may pay off handsomely but not for me. Because of risky strategy 6/10
