BYE PLANNER SAMPLE - how my bye trading setup is looking

Hi All, I have worked through and made up a bye planner to show the way I can limit my team to 2 donuts only over teh bye rounds without using unreliable(potentially) DPP rucks.

Now the players i have by the time round 11 comes up may be very different i may have upgraded more players or changed rooks or anything but i have left the starting players i have had excpet traded a few to different bye rounds ahead of round 11 to show the MAKEUP OF BYE PLAYERS FOR EACH ROUND I WILL HAVE COME ROUND 11.

I have chosen 3 keeprs in one bye round in defence from round one also 3 keepers from one bye round in the forwards from round 1.

The reason this is OK is beacause due to the rucks as the planner will show, YOU HAVE TO HAVE 2 DONUTS without use of DPP rucks.

Any questions or thoughts or feedback feel free to post, I am sure there will be plenty :)

Hope I've done it right and not made a fool of myself :)

i like this ....
im gonna go make one for my own team so i know whats actually happening with my team during the byes . =D

Worth noting for thsoe that say why not go into round 11 - with bye players 8-11-11

well because it makes no difference i went in 8-12-10 got a donut in 12 &13

If i had been 8-11-11 i would have got no round 12 donut but i would have gotten 2 round 13 donuts instead.

likewise you could go in with 9 in round 11 on byes and take one of your "compulsory donuts in round 11. But that won't be o popular option given the best players are mostly round 12 and 13 players.

If you don't understand the "compulsory" 2 byes it is due to the rucks, the two rucks on the bench in round 13 need to be yellow (round 13 bye) rucks to avoid the 2 donuts, and that is not possible as you need all 6 trades over the yes to avoid donuts already so you just DONT have the 2 extra trades needed to avoid donuts.

I'm not sure it makes sense but its a fact. and again if you have different rucks (BUT NOT DPP) your planner will look different and donuts may be in different rounds, but without DPP i think everyone gets 2.

prove me wrong please i would rather avoid my 2 but i think i have it right.

Nice work CW!
Just wondering about your mids.
In round 14, you'll have Swan, Ablett, Murphy, Pendles, Thommo, Rocky, (Barlow, Clifton)

Personally, I'm planning to have a fwd dpp, instead of say Barlow, just for the extra flexibiity.
I'll be starting with ROK in my mids, NO Barlow, for this very reason.

i did this too fast :) so one trade i showed would be a downgrade not an upgrade OR it would be to trade Barlow up if he doesnt become a keeper I guess. Or you may be right not to have him and start pendles or selwood and yeah make one of the trades above a rookie downgrade,

Keeping in mind as you say there is the DPP trading, so the trading will be the easy part it's more the structure to get ONLY the 2 donuts i want to get right, I think it will be easy to trade through the period of byes given the DPP, just have to make sure you head into it with the right set up which is also flexible as in WHEN you choose to take the donuts, there are more options for that tha n i realised.

you can set up to take the 2 over any round together or any two rounds seperately.

Very true about the new dpp trading! :)

The scary thing for me is the GWS rooks sitting on the bench in rnd 11, having an extra rest and not playing round 12.
But hey, we're all expecting carnage over these rounds I suppose.

The secret as per your example is to do bonafide trades that improve your team, no sideways nonsense! ;)

exactly the trades i listed are rubish JUST TO SHOW TRADING ONE BYE PLAYER TO THE BYE PLAYER YOU NEED TO AVOID DONUTS.

whether each individual trade is an upgrade or a downgrade is irrelevant and won't know which or even what players will be there until round 11 but its a metter of having the structure right and trading this way accross the byes.

I agree i think i'd almost rather an extra donut than sideways trading for no improvement either cashing in a rook or upgrading one.

I still don't get this? But all I will probably do is upgrade players when there value rises to about peak e.g. B. Ellis at rd 13, should be at peak price.

Colliwobblers

i can't explain it much simpler, at the end of it all if you can avoid 2 donuts anyone any way WITHOUT using dpp rucks please feel free to explain how :)

The Silent Partner

you've done well with that have same strategy. The donuts are unavoidable question is how many will everyone get? I think the most important thing is to get the trading/ up grading / downgrading right so trades are not wasted, although a sideways trade may be inevitable

Colliwobblers

the only thing that could make things worse than the sample i show is a LTI during any of the 3 bye rounds to the wrong player and it may be an extra donut you also cant avoid. otherwise with the new dpp trading it should be easy enough to maintain the right structure and trade through the byes with only the 2 donuts.

people brave enough to go dpp rucks can save donuts i guess but i havent even looked into it becasue apart from maybe rowe, which other ruck is worth the massive risk to carry for 10 rounds just to avoid a donut.

The Silent Partner

I just hope my rookie selections beef up quick and there are downgrade options available some may have to be held for longer. I wonder how rougheads achilles is going?

Torress

mate i think this is gold.

3 premos in defence and forward playing during byes and cop the donuts when you want  :-X
realistically expecting 4 donuts max tho. but if you have a good run without injuries, and i'd rather not bugger around with rowe or roughy.

Colliwobblers

Slightly better version, showing starting team and trades up to round 11 start. Once again likely to be more trades and different trades made in the first 10 rounds.

The point of this is to show the structure going into the byes and the trading through the byes.

Let me start by saying great work CW.Ya deserve a prize for trying to work it out. People who can fathom this out will have an advantage in some way, all be it, maybe only slight. Me personally, i cant get my head around it so I am just going to go with the flow and cop the (hopefully only 2 donuts).

But as for the other ruck, what about Roughy?. Couldn't we upgrade to him in the fwd line before the byes and have Rowe as R4 from the start? If so how would this work and would it limit our Rd 13 prem Fwds we could have from the start? Anyway all too much for me, but i thought i would throw it out there for you to consider. I may even be way off track ???
Keep up the good work! 8)
