Hi Ben, nice team mate. I like that you've thought about providing DPP link between F/M, F/D & M/D. My only suggestion for improvement is to use the spare cash to upgrade Priddis to a real prem midfielder! I don't need to bang on about how risky Lake is do I? 8/10.

Thanks for the feedback mate.

I'm happy with Priddis because he's so damn consistent and I reckon he will average even more than last year. The other premiums I'd be looking at are one each form Carlton and Collingwood. I'm just waiting to see who is better this year out of Judd v Murphy and Swan v Pendlebury.

Will wait and see with Lake. Hopefully he plays NAB Cup and guns it and lines up from Round 1!

Hey Ben, strong all round side.

Backs: Good premiums but not sold on Heppel, great player dont get me wrong, but I see him keeping his average, maybe upping it by 5 points, not enough to warrent his starting price this year to me. Rookies obvoiusly to be watched through nab to see if guys like Clarke, buntine, bower are worth getting.

Mids: Like the 4 guns and the rookies, only other rookie to keep an eye I think would be Clifton. I Like priddis and rockliff, but think it is brave not to have one of Swan/Pendles.

Fwds: Structure is good, but not sold on brown/porplyzia, would keep a close eye on those guys, along with winderlich, didak, morton. Or perhaps change to a premium (fyfe/goodes) and a rookie. Dick recovering from injury and on the rookie list so unlikely to play early.

8.5/10, only problem for me is brown/porplyzia/heppel, and lack of a second super premium in the mids (pendles/swan/murphy)

Ringo

Solid Team Ben all round
Good flexibility with Rookie DPP Links which I like.
Obviusly like all you will be watching the pre season to select best possible rookies including DPP.
I would upgrade Rockliff to a super premium Pendles, Swan or Selwood.  I am a little concerned as to how Rocky will handle the extra attention he will now receive, Priddis was very consistent last year
Just watch Heppell for second year syndrome but from reports he has bulked up a little more so maybe ok.
Agree with Dmac to keep an eye on Clifton and Morton pre season for possible inclusion.

I know it may waste a trade or 2 but bear in mind we have until Round 3 to set our sides for leagues so if doubtful ones are not performing after 2 rounds trade.
8.5/10 for team mainly because lack of 2nd super prem.

A few tweaks to my initial side.

BACKS: Goddard (MID), Deledio (MID), H Shaw, Adcock, Heppell, Mohr, Smedts (FWD) (J Allen (MID), Wilkes)

MIDS: Ablett, Priddis, J Selwood, Barlow, Clifton, Pfeiffer (FWD) (L Brown (MID), J McDonald)

RUCKS: Mumford, Leuenberger (Giles, Stephenson)

FORWARDS: Franklin, D Martin (MID), T Cloke, J Brown, Saad, Growden (MID), Walsh (Zorko (MID), Curran (DEF))

$36,600 left.

Heppell will be last year's version of Fyfe IMO.

An upgrade in my forward line will be the first target.

What do you guys think? All feedback appreciated.

Nice looking team Ben!

Def: Solid

Mids: Very solid, though i'll be interested to see if Macdonald's body can hold up.

Rucks: Solid

Fwd: Again solid, though I'm weighing up between Cloke and Sidebottom, not sure what kind of role Steele will be playing but he may be a better option.

Other than that cant really fault it.
I'm sure everything will change once the NAB gets under way though.

charliesheen

Gotta have Dylan Shiels.  I don't really think you need L. Brown and Pffiefer in the mids, because they give you that new trade option which allows you to make upgrades and switch their position later on.

Thats just my personal opinion.

The rest looks okay, I guess it just depends on where you feel the value is in 2012, which will be different for everyone.

ben_020285

I'm not at all worried about rookies at this stage. I'll focus on rookies during NAB cup and once Round 1 teams are announced.

The overall structure and selection of prems is what I'm focusing on at the moment.

charliesheen

Can't complain about those choices.

I'm still debating whether to start Franklin or not.

Hey Ben,

First impression is that you have a very good team here.

Keep a close eye on Billy Smedts mate.  I'm not sure he'll play first up.  I think Motlop and Cowen will be picked before him.

Barlow is a smart choice.  I may pick him up also.  Proven SC scoring machine. Just hope his legs recovered fully.

Absolutely love the Mumford pick.  Had him last year as a unique ruckman and he didn't let me down.  Be prepared for some huge scores from him.

Try and sneak Rockliff in the midfield.  He has the potential to average 130 odd this year.  BALL MAGNET?

Well done on a well balanced side.

DEF: awesome !
MID: great (priddis not my cup of tea but can't fault his scoring)
RUCK: awesome!
FWD: goodish, a little light on with Brown as your 4th forward but that is becasue you have spent the money on a 5th premium in the DEF.

Overall great side, I have completely ignored the rooks as you have made it clear they are decisions for nabcup time which is very smart imo.

Good luck strong side no question.

ben_020285

I have now updated my side and have a Team A and Team B. Basically, if Lake plays well during NAB cup and lines up for round 1 then I will use Team A if not then I will use team B.

Team A

BACKS: Goddard (MID), Deledio (MID), H Shaw, Heppell, Lake, Tomlinson (FWD), Mohr (Spurr, Morris)

MIDS: Ablett, M Murphy, J Selwood, Barlow, Pfeiffer (FWD), Shiel (L Brown (MID), J McDonald)

RUCKS: Cox, Sandilands (Giles, Stephenson)

FORWARDS: Franklin, D Martin (MID), T Cloke, J Brown, Saad, Smedts (FWD), Treloar (MID) (Walsh, Zorko (MID))

$70,800 left

Team B

BACKS: Goddard (MID), Deledio (MID), Broughton, Adcock, Heppell, Tomlinson (FWD), Mohr (Spurr, Morris)

MIDS: Ablett, M Murphy, J Selwood, Barlow, Pfeiffer (FWD), Shiel (L Brown (MID), J McDonald)

RUCKS: Sandilands, Leuenberger (Giles, Stephenson)

FORWARDS: Pavlich, D Martin (MID), T Cloke, J Brown, Saad, Smedts (FWD), Treloar (MID) (Walsh, Zorko (MID))

$48,000 left

I prefer team A so I'm hoping Lake comes good. What do you guys think of both options?

PICCOLLO

Both good teams.  The only issue is the need for 3 rookie forwards to be on the park.  I'd prefer you downgraded Heppel and brought in another key forward.  I think having no more than 2 rookies on field per slot is a good tactic but if you have three, then midfield is the best spot.  You only need to look at Impromptu and other top teams to see that rookie midfielders are safer bets on the park than their defensive counterparts.

Thanks for the comment Piccollo, that definitely makes sense and I have now created a team with a 3 prem, 3 rookie midfield:

BACKS: Goddard (MID), Deledio (MID), H Shaw, Heppell, Lake, Tomlinson (FWD), Mohr (Spurr, Morris)

MIDS: Ablett, Swan, J Selwood, Clifton, Pfeiffer (FWD), Shiel (L Brown (MID), J McDonald)

RUCKS: Mumford, Leuenberger (Giles, Stephenson)

FORWARDS: Franklin, Pavlich (MID), D Martin (MID), T Cloke, J Brown, Smedts (FWD), Treloar (MID) (Walsh, Zorko (MID))

$22,800 left

What do you all think of this approach and team?
