MID: G. Ablett jnr, D. Swan, J. Selwood, B. Prismall, A. Morabito, S. Kerridge (J. McDonald, T. Mitchell)

CASH LEFT: $100

Obviously will try to make some extra cash somewhere. Perhaps downgrade Grima to a rookie?

Taken a punt on a few players (Prismal, Morabito, Lake, Morton and Porplyzia)

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

good core to the side with goddard, deledio, shaw, gaj, swan, selwood, etc...

but too many risks in the team, i would try to eliminate a couple, e.g grimes and grima both in defence too risky, maybe downgrade grima to a rookie and upgrade maybe morton to a premium forward.

personally i wouldnt start with cox due to his price maybe luenberger or mummy imo but thats just me.

but good core to work with.

Colliwobblers

i like grima downgrade lake if you have to, my only advice on a good structured side is remember the winning formula is GUN/ROOK.

Make lake a rook / make morabito a rook / make porps a rook.

If possible then upgrade, Prismal. Lecras, Morton.

Why take a punt on these players when you can have the best rooks that prove themselves through NAB cup and the proven guns and just the obvious mid priced guns.

Spirios

After a couple of weeks playing aroung I have almost got a starting line up for 2012. Obviously rookie watch in nab cup but what do you guys think?

Solid side and these opinions are just personal.
Def: Gibson nice unique but as a pure defensive player has he more upside than others around the same price
Mids: Not a fan of Gibbs in the mids and I believe that with three elites in Gibbs, Judd and Murphy points for all may suffer slightly which is why I have steered clear of all in my team.
Rucks; You will have an issue with the round 12 bye with Mumford, Sandilands and Stephenson all having the bye.  Maybe look at substituting one with Cox, Goldy or Berger who have the bye in round 11.
Forwards: Goodes traditionally starts slow so maybe use Martin, Fyfe or Cloke instead and target Goodes as an upgrade.

Overall 8.5/10 mainly due to the bye risk with both prem rucks.

Thanks ringo, I like the idea of gibson being a bit unique. had a reasonable year last year and with a lot of talk coming from Hawthorn about the want to succeed I see him as a good gamble.

Took a risk in the updated team on Nic Nat in the rucks. hopefully he can continue to develop and score well. This gives me the option to trade up to a sandi hopefully after that bye week.

Forwards I have taken your advice and gone with Super Pav. He has been one of the first picked in previous years and hopefully will continue to do what he does best.

Another gamble on Hodge and Mundy in the mids, hopefully both can be fit ( havent heard of Mundys progress) and fire. If   mundy is still on a "rehab" training structure The backup plan is a downgrade to K. Jack with the view of him being a quick money earner and upgrading to a super prem (Judd, Selwood, murphy even Pendlebury) and banking the extra $120k or thereabouts for upgrades.

Luigi197

i'll comment on your updated team :)

i like your backline besides having both Shaw and Clarke in your backline. id rather keeep SHaw because there are more guarantees of big scores, plus two players from the same team and same position often means one will do good while one wont. plus it will hurt a bit in the byes.
i think the rest of your team is really good; although i dont like having only 11.7k left. i would prefer to have around 40k left...

9/10! :)

Mate , re the upgrade to Pendles, he's as you know 700K now & if he stays around the same you would nearly have to do 3 trades to get him. Why not re structure your team around him as well as Swan & Gaz? Just throwing the thought out there.

I cant see pendles staying at 700k. I think Ablett will be back to his best and is a better option over Pendlebury and he is als cheaper.

Spirios

Cheers guys,

Agree on the pendlebury thoughts. Plan would be to either stick with Mundy (dependant on injuries) or trade down to Jack for the start of the season and have that $100k ish sitting waiting for Pendelbury to come down. It is then a straight trade of Jack to Pendlebury.

I am a strong believer in Pendlebury and his scoring potential (Collingwood supporter) but very very very reluctant to pay anywhere near his starting price of $700k. If in the early part of the season he gets down to below or on par ablett/ swan $$ He would be straight in.

The Clarke and Shaw debate is a tough one too. Previous years I have done ok out of Shaw/O'brien, Shaw/Buckley and Shaw/Reid.

I see Clarke as a better option to score well early as oposed to a rookie in defense and therefore a good cash cow.

The $$ is a tough one to look at also. The only way I would be happy to make extra cash would be to downgrade possibly Gibson to a grimes/ grima or even a Duffield OR a downgrade of either Hodge or Mundy to a Cotchin/Martin.

Still a bit to think about.

DCAK

Hi Spirios, I think you've done a great job on your team and overall it's very solid. The only player you've got that I have concerns about is Dangerfield. I'll give you 8/10 (-1 for Dangermouse). Wouldn't give anyone 10/10 for the record.

PICCOLLO

Gibson is a fine unique pick, mundy is a gun and hodge should bounce back but he occasionally goes missing.  3 defensive rookies isnt my cup of tea bcos you're relying on 3/5 of them playing each week to have a team - not a great proposition when injuries and resting hamper your squads every few weeks.
Be prepared for dangerpants disappointment.
