Mid Priced Player Rating (DEF) 7/10 - could see midfield time this season and if he does should have the breakout season Freako and many others are predicting, not so likely to score great if given a key defensive role which he is also more than capable of. A high draft pick had a shocking run with injury last season AGAIN. Wouldn't start him but will be watching him, if he is a regular which he should be and lives up FINALLY to his massive potential he will breakout.

The 205cm ruckman is yet to make his debut and was mentioned in trade week, but Port is buoyant about his prospects and was reluctant to trade him. Impressed in the 2011 SANFL Grand Final with Woodville-West Torrens, which defeated pre-game favourite Central District. With fellow ruckmen Renouf and Lobbe recovering from injury in the pre-season, Redden has the chance to play in the senior side, but he needs to keep working to improve his aerobic fitness.

Reddo is a big young lad who is really starting to grow into a man. The midfielders love him at stoppages because of his strength and positioning. He’s a great stoppage ruckman and although he hasn’t got through every session, his aerobic capacity is improving. That is still an area that he’s got plenty of improvement in before he can become a regular AFL ruckman. He’s very good when he’s fresh and he’ll be priming himself for the NAB Cup with Renouf and Lobbe recovering from injury, so there may be an opportunity for him.

Rookie Player Rating (RUCK) 8.5/10 - Looking more and more likely of getting the #1 ruck spot at port, if he can have 2 or 3 big games in the real deal before Lobbe gets back he will be safe as houses, for a rookie that is GOLD. There is a lot of competition for tall spots at Port so he needs JS in the ruck because he is unlikely to get it in the fwd line. Obviously talented and capable and ready to go, should be an absolute lock for your bench.

Good to be able to put a name to a face. Darley and Redden have so far just been a name and a price tag :P

Any chance you could do one on the great man, Brent Stanton? I've got him locked in just want to hear what a true expert sees of him. Cheers.

Would love: Tom Campbell, Kane Cornes, Steven Salopek, Aaron Davey.

Powerful ruckman Tom Campbell was considered one of the premier VFL ruckman in 201. Turning 21 next year, Campbell has a more developed body capable of competing with the bigger bodies at AFL level.

Rookie Player Rating (RUCK) 6.5/10 - Rookie listed, will get elevated at some stage I feel, but his Job Securitu is limited. With Minson the clear #1 ruck and Cordy and Roughead the two to support him this week in the dress rehersal it is very unlikely to see Campbell get early games, make a good downgrade target if and when he is elevated as he was a dominant ruck in the VFL last season and is mature and AFL ready.

Mid Priced Player Rating (MID) 7.5/10 - Cornes is a bargain if he continues his NAB CUP form and is given a starting role in every round, two things he failed to do last season. There is a large risk involved with him but given what we have seen so far the risk is significantly reduced, a drop in form won't be tolerated and if the form continues Port will be mad not to play him. A risky pick but given the potential on display tonight may be a clever one if a very unique one.

Salopek had a topsy-turvy year. Hampered by a hamstring injury after round one, he was in and out of the team mid-season before finishing the year off well, playing in the last six games for a total of 12. An excellent ball-user and decision-maker, Salopek will be hoping to be a consistent fixture in the team when his body is right, and is in his football prime years, so has to make the most of them.

Mid Priced Player Rating (MID) 6/10 - Not great JS for Salopek, has talent finished last year well and had a good pre-season, is however a fringe player and with Cornes firing and Mccarthy and Ebert coming in and being VERY impressive there is doubt about Salopek getting regular games with or without the vest. Has talent but not the safest mid priced pick going that is for sure.

Mid Priced Player Rating (FWD) 6.5/10 - Not much news on Davey, not much I can say either, not good anyway. He is a servicable player always has been, gets talked up a lot but the stats are what fantasy footy is about and the stats have always been average. Not likely to put in a full season in my humble opinion and in a team that has a lot of improving to do I can't see him improving much on his numbers.

Reclaimed his status as the game's best big man and rediscovered his best form after two seasons ruined by injury. Ranked third in the AFL for hit-outs (716), including finals. Has formed an unrivaled ruck partnership with Nic Naitanui and his ability to cover the ground, floating back to help the defence or forward to kick goals, is of great value.

FULL NAB CUP GAMES:

   Player Name   K   H   D   M   HO   T   FF   FA   SG   G   B   DT
3   Dean Cox   9   12   21   5   13   1   2   4   0   0      1   1   80
2   Dean Cox           13   3   16   7   13   4   2   0   0   2   2   111

Premium Player Rating (RUCK) 9/10 - Lock, unless you are certain on the second best ruckman of the season then pick him and upgrade to Cox mid season (if going 1+3 strategy) if going set and forget - LOCK. The gap between Cox and the rest of the premium ruckmen is significant and worth the extra money from the start if you have it. Exactly the same as it is in every other line when picking the most expensive standout player. Another ruckman may improve further to match Cox this season or even better him, knowing who it will be is the problem. For now Cox is the best and looking like keeping it that way.

Premium Player Rating (RUCK) 8/10 - #1 ruck at the Saints no question there, has great JS and he is improving has a fair way to go in the way of consistancy to become truely elite. A very safe pick for your #2 ruck, will be daylight betwen him and Cox and even Sandi if he stays fit and plays all season. Broke out last season and needs to consolidate in 2012.

It's been an effort but taught me a lot!

I have enjoyed it and benefited a LOT, I'll leave the advice giving to other like yourself tho, just information from me I come to your thread for advice just like everyone else :)

Some of the early write ups are a bit rough but I have gotten better along the way, also a lot has changed between when I started the write ups and now.
