Thoughts?

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, B. Staker, B. Lake, P. Davis, N. Brown, P. Faulks (M. Clarke, N. Blee)
MID: P. Dangerfield, S. Thompson, J. Polec, M. Barlow, G. Ablett jnr, J. Ziebell (K. Jack, S. Coniglio)
RUC: N. Naitanui, H. McIntosh (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: D. Martin, D. Zaharakis, J. Brown, A. Didak, G. Rohan, J. Butcher, B. Dick (D. Zorko, S. Rowe)

I know I have a lot of work to do still. Including taking byes into account and so on

ossie85

Interesting side...

Staker is injured all of 2012. And I think you've gone with too many mid-pricers. I'd try an all-or-nothing approach (i.e. mostly expensive players and cheapies)

SydneyRox

Welcome Miffy!

I thin Os has hit the nail on the head, you have way too much risk in here without enough premium scorers!

Have a look at some of the other teams posted to get an idea on your forward line, which is well below par.

Your midfield is too mid price heavy, too much money on the benches as well, downgrade some of those guys to up grade the others.

miffysp

YeH cheers.
I still have heaps of work to do as u can c.
I also needa drop a few ppl for rookies n than upgrade elsewhere still.

DCAK

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, B. Staker, B. Lake, P. Davis, N. Brown, P. Faulks (M. Clarke, N. Blee)
MID: P. Dangerfield, S. Thompson, J. Polec, M. Barlow, G. Ablett jnr, J. Ziebell (K. Jack, S. Coniglio)
RUC: N. Naitanui, H. McIntosh (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: D. Martin, D. Zaharakis, J. Brown, A. Didak, G. Rohan, J. Butcher, B. Dick (D. Zorko, S. Rowe)

Ok, here's my take on your team, but first, how much cash have you got left?

DEF: Staker has to go. Lake is risky, will have to wait and see how he goes in NAB Cup. Will have to wait and see if N. Brown makes it into Pies best 22. Overall, weak & risky. Enlist 1 or 2 more solid performers (Enright/Broughton/Suckling/Heppel/Scotland/Shaw)

MID: Polec is a waste of money, get a 1st year rookie instead. Maybe upgrade Ziebell or Dangerfield to an elite player. You're gonna get smoked with your current set up. Enlist one of Selwood/Swan/Pendles/Watson/Boyd/Swallow and dump Polec and or Dangerfield for promising rookies (Mitchell/Shiel/Clifton/Wingard....read up for yourself!)

RUCK: Cheap. No other way to say it, you're gonna get smoked here as well. You're bench seems to be the consensus set up though so thats good.  I'd upgrade at least one of your onfield rucks, preferably HMac.

FWD: Pretty average. Brad Dick is rookie listed so may not even get to play in 2012. While I rate Dustbin Martin and Zaharakis, I think your need more firepower at F1 (IMO this has to be Franklin). Again I think your fwd line will get smoked.

Overall I'd say that you'd be soundly beaten week in/week out with this team, though I suspect you must have a lot of cash spare as I cant see where you've spent it. Spend it now!  5/10.

Ringo

DCAK has summed up nicely.

Without a super prem in forwards you will get smoked even if not keen on Franklin look at Fyfe, Johhson or Pavlich. Would love to playing a team that had Martin and Zaha as their 2 best forwards. You also have the risk of Dick not getting a game.

Mids I would replace Polec and remember Ziebell is suspended for 2 matches as well. Definitely looking at getting one of the big 3 Ablett, Swan or Pendles into your mids as well.

miffysp

Had a bit of a shuffle around. I will also drop either Clarke or brown in def for another rookie once I see how there preseason goes. That'll free up some cash to upgrade elsewhere. Ao far I have 21k left.
Cheers for your views guys.

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, S. Buckley, B. Lake, P. Davis, N. Brown, P. Faulks (M. Clarke, N. Blee)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, S. Thompson, M. Barlow, K. Jack, P. Dangerfield, S. Coniglio (C. Wingard, K. Horsely)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, J. Roughead (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: A. Goodes, N. Riewoldt, J. Brown, T. Hawkins, A. Didak, J. Butcher, T. Walsh (D. Zorko, S. Rowe)

I went with buckley also as I could c him stepping into Davis shoes. Il c the stricture through the nab cup

meow meow

Ditch Dangerfield for a rookie and get a backman who will actually play instead of Buckley. Brown is only borderline in Collingwood's best 22, and even if he gets a gig he scores like crap. Get a rookie, upgrade Davis.

You've got 3 rucks with the bye in round 11.

Hawkins is too risky. One good game doesn't make him any more reliable. Infact, your whole forward line is risky. Not all the gambles will pay off.

miffysp

My rucks byes r 2/1/1.
I wana keep Davis in the def as he will no doubt b very busy down there. Hopefully he will b the free roaming
Defender

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, S. Fisher, G. Johncock, B. Lake, P. Davis, P. Faulks (M. Clarke, N. Blee)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, S. Thompson, M. Barlow, K. Jack, S. Coniglio, C. Wingard (K. Horsely, T. Mitchell)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, J. Roughead (J. Giles, O. Stephenson)
FWD: A. Goodes, N. Riewoldt, J. Brown, A. Didak, J. Butcher, J. Porplyzia, T. Walsh (D. Zorko, S. Rowe)

By buying players such as P. Davis, P. Faulks, J. Butcher you are in effect paying way too much for players who are no better (scorewise) than a rookie, so why not do yourself a favour, put in the research, get the better rookies of 2012 (not neccessarily most expensive) and use the money saved to upgrade your not quite premium players (Johncock/Jack) to decent players.

meow meow

Oh it's Jarryd Roughead, the guy who won't be ready for round 1. I suggest finding someone else.

GWS have a plethora of better loose defender options. Hombsch will get the role in the games he plays.
Faulks doesn't look likely to play with Dawson coming in. I watched Faulks in the VFL when he played for the bulldogs affilate, and all he does is spoil. No attacking side - not a good fantasy pick.

Mitchell is in the Swans rehab group so he might be better suited to being a downgrade target.

I don't get the love for Zorko around here. I'd be surprised if he gets games.
I'd cut Butcher from your team (pun intended) and get one of Bruce/Cameron/Folau instead, and spend that money on getting rid of Didak and instead getting a MPP mid like Zaha or Sidey if you can't afford Pav/Fyfe/Martin/Beams.

So u rekon I should b aiming a bit more to the likes of below.
Altho I am not going to base n shape my final team on everyones opinions.
Its good to have an individual touch. I will start researching fully starting next month.
I appreciate everyone's views never the less. This is a great page.
N yeah I know my forward line is still really iffy.

DEF: B. Goddard, B. Deledio, H. Shaw, S. Fisher, G. Johncock, B. Lake, S. Docherty (T. Mohr, N. Blee)

Ringo

Some uniques in this team I like miffy especially in the mids with Thompson who I have not seen in a lot of teams as well as Kieran Jack.
I have said in a couple of posts would not start with Goodes but target as upgrade due to his traditionally slow start to the season. Maybe just replace him if cash allows with Fyfe, Franklin or Stevie J. Forward line is only iffy if Brown, Roo and Didak do not fire up and Porplyza favours his shoulder.
It is Ok to be individualistic but not at the price of dropping big points. I try to ascertain 4/5 players who I consider a bit of uniques to differentiate my team from others. (These are players who are owned by less than 7% of teams).  Unfortunately this can backfire as people jump on.

Patrician

I'm sure I read somewhere that Morabito isn't back to full training yet. So watch him closely.

I'd agree with Ringo, Goodes as a starter is a risk. And as for Didak...well... ::)

miffysp

Cheers guys
I picked morabito as his in freos best 22. Not by a lot but IMO he is. And I'd rather choose him as it feels a safer gamble then get another rookie.
I'm pretty keen on Thompson especially with there draw. Plus not many ppl seem to pick him, maybe coz his from an SA team.
And with jack. He got subbed out a couple of games last year with injuries which dented his sc average. Hopefully he can return to his 2010 form. Ifso he is a bargain.
With dids n porplyzia. IMO they r at a price that is worth taking a gamble with.
I m a big fan of goodes and rekon he will fire from the start. I m not a fan of players on the wrong side of 30 apart from him. I can trade him for franklin n il have 6k change. I still rekon fyfe is a bit of a risk and I rekon pavlich will play too often in the forward line this season for him to b picked up.
