Not really sure if Kavanagh will get games in his first season

He'll get picked every week ahead of blokes like Ricky Dyson and Sam Lonergan. Plus Dyson Heppell playing the whole season is a good example of Essendon putting games into quality young blokes.

I agree with erich, bombers are desparate for another gun midfielder, they'll be putting games into Kavanaugh asap.

Reasonably sound team.  Like most do not know how rookies are going to perform so watch during pre season.

Not sure about Gibbs as mid as last year he was only the 20th rank midfielder based on his scores. Would prefer Murphy or Judd who score better for Carlton.

Also watch how GWS use McDonald as he may be a mid option at only $106k.  He was averaging 99 SC points in 2010 and may be worth a look as mature aged rookie.

I like your backline, albeit you may have spent a little too much on it. I think Burgoyne, if he can remain fit, could be a really important POD now that he is a defender. Gibbs is a big punt as a pure mid, I think there are several better options than him. You are also asking for trouble making Giles your 2nd ruck.....many have tried the rookie 2nd ruck tactic (including myself) and it can really backfire. I would spend up on a premium and leave Giles as R3. I would fund this by downgrading Gibbs to a rookie (I feel you can have more faith in mid rooks than elsewhere on the field). Your forward line looks reasonable. Overall a pretty good side to start with.

I had Zac Smith has my second ruckmen last year and that paid dividends so I think I'm willing to take that risk again. Giles averaged 92 DT points last year for GWS and will get a lot of game time.

But yeah, I think I'll put Marc Murphy in for Gibbsy just to be safe.
