Also be wary of paying too much for rookies taken in first round eg Coniglio as sometimes it is more effective to get the bargain priced rookie at $100k who will become a much better cash cow for you if form warrants it.

Cheers mate, I will be keeping an eye on Coniglio during pre season but I do like the look of him has played senior footy in the WAFL so should be used to bigger bodies and I doubt he will be a sub considering GWS have so many kids. What's your thought on McIntosh? I chose him because of his 2010  stats (20 games at 81) but with goldy doing most of the ruck work maybe there are better options at that price like Trent West.

A lot depends on how you spend the money.  For example, you could just as easily pick up dead weight like Bewick's & Irons, where the extra 80-100k spent on Swallow can easily justify it.  Then there is picks like Gaff, Polec, and Conca, which failed to meet a lot of people's expectations.

So it works both ways, but something certainly to be mindful of.
