Will he bounce back in 2012?

Yes
No

DicingApple

Considering N Roo will be coming off close to his worst season of all time, do you think he will bounce back? He has been one of the better, if not the best, forward option for many years based on his overall output, yet 2011 will be a year he and his fantasy coaches would prefer to forget.

While i didn't have him in my team at any point last year i am strongly considering him for the upcoming season. He was obviously distracted with the off field dramas and looked to lack his usual confidence. I think he will have a point to prove to himself, his supporters, his critics and his ex-coach. He isn't over the hill yet in terms of DT score ability, but is getting there.

Obviously there are concerns though when picking a player such as this. Was his poor season purely above the shoulders? Did injury hamper his ability to lead and  hit the ball at pace? We didn't see him dominating the entire forward half this season, seemed to hang out closer to goal.

All this being said i am still considering him as i want to take the risk on one of Didak, Brown or NRoo. Wouldn't even consider having two of those in my line up so initially leaning towards Roo. Although there may even be a better option around his price tag anyway.

You know what they say. You can't keep a good man down. Question is, will he turn it all around or will it all end in tears (you know he loves a good blubber  :'()
cheers  :)

elephants

No. Not for me. I do think he will raise his average against last years though.

My honest opinion is that he wont bounce back to consistent 100+ scores.  The zone has killed his ability to rack up points.  See a post I made a while ago

it depends. If the saints do something like pick up fev in the draft for another flag bid, I can see him bouncing back. You would think with fev and roo in a forward line, the zone would be a bit impractical, and players would be forced to just man up.

Cheers valk, interesting post mate. Really i would prefer to free up another 50k and try to slot a less risky forward in, although all the forward line players seem to be risky this year LOL!

All forwards seem risky to me - every year

Ziplock

this year there seems to be a distinct lack though.

maybe this is going to be a huge BOY for all fwds?

Yeh, have noticed most of the teams posted have included Franklin/Fyfe/Cloke and then others teetering on the brink , yet no love for the Pav or the Chapster. Maybe a sign of the times  8)

Franklin will be first to line up in my forward line but not sold on Fyfe/Cloke...................................yet!  :-\

j959

just a bit too much risk on him this coming year ... think he's going to be awkwardly priced in terms of 'do i pick him, don't i pick him' ...

the only thing that is likely to change peoples' minds is if he starts tearing things up pre-season wise and i think that unlikely at this stage.

i'd put him in the unlikely category ...  ;)

I think Pav will have a good DT/SC year in 2012 if Ross plays him at CHF.  He has had better averages when he plays predominantly there.

penskifile

No. I don't think he will be a premo anymore. The zone, his head and the fact i can't see the saints challenging again with their list are all working against him.

Dudge

I tend to agree with most of u guys the fact that N Roo had a very ordinary year just gone. But i think it's a bit prem to right him off. I realise that the zone + photo scandal + new coach, all make it risky. but the fact is, before last year. he was normally a lock (sometimes as capt.) By the sound of things , he'll end up being a unique. Big watch on pre-season for me

Grazz

Yeh he's champ so i wont be quick in writting him off. Last year was ordinary by his standards no question. The zone doesnt bother
me as much as his knee does when suggesting can he get back to what he was in 2010 and prior. It certainly limited his running power in 2011 and for him to score like he used to, he needs to be able to do that ie run the opposition into the ground. Time will tell and as Dudge said watch him through the Nab cup and decide from there.

Voldemort

There are too many better players now. He has a knee that has a mind of its own and he can't seem to take a mark  :P

No.

I'm sorry

Holz

Close to a lock for me, i guess that becasue as the DT talk boys say, im an old school dt'er.
