Well we have all heard the news probably by now that Mark Harvey has left the Fremantle Dockers
http://www.fanfooty.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,44133.0.html

But it is all but confirmed, that Ross Lyon will most likely leave the Sainters to replace Mark Harvey
http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/ross-lyon-to-coach-fremantle-20110915-1kbmh.html

So after a premiership drought, an early season choke, and a late season revival, will St Kilda find a new head man to lead them to what they hope will become their second premiership ever IF he leaves?

Although this article may put some doubt in his departure,  http://www.canberratimes.com.au/news/national/national/sport/lyon-to-stick-with-st-kilda-for-2012/2291029.aspx , what do the sainters need to do to win that Premiership that is at the fingertips?

And is GWS's entry going to put them under more strife?

Well, as Lyon put it, it's the End Of An Era so i can't the Sainters being premiership threats for a while now, they had their two years, and couldn't convert unfortunately, now they have to rebuild and hope to find a premiership team in the coming years.

I wouldn't mind Mick Malthouse :P we need somebody who is going to get the players working more on their skills, IMO the only thing that has stopped us getting further into the finals this season

oh and somebody that will play Roo out of the forward line and Goddard at CHF :P

It'll limit Goddards ball movement but he's better than Kozi.

it will limit it, but Goddard having 20 disposals with 5 shots at goal and 8 kicks into the forward 50 pleases me a lot more then Goddard having 35 disposals across half-back

And they do already have plenty of ball movers back there: Fisher, Gilbert, Gwilt...

roo boys!

Afraid that I think the window has closed for the Saints, and, more obviously also the Bulldogs, two of the real contenders a couple of years ago.

People said that about Geelong at the end of last season, they got a new coach, and look where they are now, 2nd favourites for premiership again :P

A coach who knows what he (or she?? :o ) is doing would be ideal.
Someone who could look at their lineup, and immediately what is wrong with it, and come straight out and say it.
For the Cub itself, step 1 is to make sure NO ONE LEAVES. Step 2 will be to find a head coach with more that a few years left in him, who is succinct (if thats the right word) and will cut right to the chase, in deciding where to place all their players (i.e Goddard where? and NROO to have a spell elsewhere?)

Malthouse I don't think will go to the Saints. IMO, i see him moving away from Collingwood in 2013 at the max. And Mark Harvey surely wont come.
Saints will also need to do what Essendon have achieved greatly at; getting a whole and full coaching staff with experience and knowledge.
The final step would be to work out what area in the squad needs improvement, and what types of players they need.

I still think the Saints have a good shot at winning a premiership if they sort everything out, and keep out of trouble.
