What are everyones thoughts on picking coaches after we all have 22 players?

I'm all for it, though it's a little tricky seeing as a few people have picked great coaches (Sheedy, McHale, Norm Smith) as players...

I think we should also be allowed to pick 3 emergencies as well!  :)

Burst onto the scene as a young ruckman for St Kilda in 1963 and dominated with a mixture of athleticism and aggression. Later played and coached at Melbourne.

Tom Leahy

every major footballing state has one ruckman who is clearly miles ahead of the rest. Victoria had Nicholls, Western Australia had Polly, and South Australia, well they had Tom Leahy.
Known as 'The Prince Of Ruckmen' Leahy succeeded in a period where ruckmen were targeted by the opposition rover in an attempt to prevent them from contesting at the bounce. Leahy used his superior football mind, strength and athleticism to become the greatest ruckman in the nation. He was loved by the public, despite often being objected to rough and illegal contact Leahy was never flustered, he remained calm, focused and seemingly quite joyous.
Don't take him as a softy though, as soon as play started he would use his strength and size if need be, albeit legally and never with malicious intent.
Frankly stunned he made it this far 8)

Harold Oliver

Harold Oliver was another crowd favourite during the early 1900's, probably due to his remarkable marking abilities, wondrous ball handling and disposal and scintillating pace.
He could win a match off his own boot and often did, his abilities seeing him become to be one of the best players never to win a Magarey Medal.

He regularly made appearances for SA and thrilled crowds at that level as well, and was a member of the squad that won the 1911 Carnival.

He'll forever be remembered as one of the most exciting players ever to play the game, and his explosive style and versatility (often succeeding on the ball, down back or up forward) will make him a likely sub.

Syd Jackson.

Silky skilled & extremely quick he was great in the middle for East Perth & tied for the Sandover medal in '63 but was ineligible having been suspended during the season. After he joined Carlton in the VFL he played as HFF and was as good if not better there winning 2 premierships with the blues. Adds another dimension to my fwd line :D
