I found another player that's been forgotten :( but nevertheless, I'm hear to pick him up. Again. :P

My next pick in the draft, is...

....Smokey.

Ron "Smokey" Clegg was an absolute champion for South Melbourne. He played 231 games and kicked 156 goals for the Bloods from 1945 to 1960. A naturally talented footballer, he played most of his career out at centre-half back or centre-half forward (don't worry I didn't pick him for that reason lol :P).

During his career, he managed a swag of achievements that include:

  • Brownlow Medal winner in 1949 and Runner up in 1951
  • South Melbourne's Best and Fairest winner in 1948, 1949 and 1951
  • Captain of South Melbourne in 1953, 1954, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960
  • Coach of South Melbourne in 1958 and 1959
  • Victorian representative (15 games and 7 goals)
  • Is a member of the South Melbourne "Team of the "Century"

With the addition of Clegg to my backline, it frees Mr. Football up into the midfield. Exceptionally happy with this pick. It'd rate him as one of the top 50 players ever and I'm stumped at how no-one had picked him up yet...

...anyway, my team now looks like this:

FB: Smith, Regan, Thorp
HB:_____, Clegg, Motley
C: _____, _____, _____
HF: Brereton, Hart, Kernahan
FF: Naylor, Doig, _____
Followers: Stynes, Dyer, Whitten
I/C _____, _____, _____, _____

You think that's unique, if my predictions are correct, I may be forced to pull out the most unique pick yet for my next pick.
