Cookie Monster's pick:

An absolute LEGEND of the St. Kilda football club and the game, the one and only Robert Harvey.
(and seeing as he is a recent player I can write a bit about him :))

Played a record number of games for St.Kilda (383) which is the third highest ever in the league, after none other than Kevin Bartlett and of course Michael Tuck.

Now assistant coaches the Saints, and is renowned for his accurate passes and gut running ability. His long list of awards and achievements include:
-Consecutive brownlow medals (1997, 1998)
-Trevor Barker award four times
-All-Australian eight times
-Victorian BOG three times in the State of Origin matches.
-AFLPA MVP 1997

Also grandnephew of the legendary Niel Harvey ;)

My fifth pick is one of the best (remaining) full backs:
David Dench

Despite his erm, questionable, rep off the field, Dench was remarkably damaging for a full-back. Well known for his ability to turn defence into attack he became a handful for opposition coaches.
He led (arguably) the best team North Melbourne ever produced to a premiership in '77, when he was forced to fill in as captain, and in '75 - Their first AFL/VFL premiership.
He won the clubs B&F in '71, '76, '77 & '81. He was picked in the North Melbourne FC's Team Of The Century, at full back.

With this pick I have my key positions locked down - Nice to have some talls to build the team around.

My sixth pick is my first running player, to be honest I'm surprised he hasn't yet been picked:
Bill Hutchison

With 2 Brownlows (robbed of a third), 290 games, 496 goals, 4 premierships, 7 B&Fs, 2 AA selections, selection in EFCs Team Of The Century Hutchison is one of the most celebrated rovers ever to play in the VFL.
In 2002 when he was named the 4th best player ever to play for Essendon (behind Reynolds, Coleman & Hird) Reynolds said he didn't deserve to be named the best as 'Hutchy' was by far the best player he had ever seen.
With near perfect disposal and blistering pace, Hutchison is often compared to Dick Reynolds - and rightly so.

To be honest I wanted to pick up some players who could play on the wings, but really when he was still available at 51 it would have been a crime (as an Essendon supporter) to overlook him.
