Hi guys this is my first crack at a team for the 2011 season. Haven't done much research and I know there are a few holes just want some feedback.

Backs: Goddard, Gilbert, Gibbs, Deledio, Grimes, Otten, Heppell, (Toy, Puopolo, Duigan)

Mids: Swan, Chapman, Boyd, Kennedy, D. Swallow, Harris, (Mzungu, Wallis, Hibberd)

Rucks: Sandilands, Petrie, (Smith, Derickx)

Forwards: Franklin, Sylvia, Reiwoldt, Goodes, Knights, Maric, Krakouer, (Prestia, Richardson, Callinan)

Bank: $117,400

I have question marks over:

  • Gilbert - will his role change from last year? will he still score strongly?
  • Goodes - traditionally a slow starter, but looked great against the pies. Wondering if Pav (or anyone around that price) is a better option?
  • Petrie - not completely sold on him... need convincing or a different option
  • Maric - obviously a unique pick, was also considering gamble - what are your thoughts?

Cheers guys!

Looks fairly solid.

But having Maric...Dunno. Suit yourself i guess. I'd have Chappy in your FWD's if possible.

Good work with MPP.

Hmm yeh not sure about Maric, definitely looking to replace him with someone, just not sure who? any suggestions?

Solid team. If not for Maric it would be pretty much be what everyone's been putting out. Just be wary that you will have two premium defenders not playing in round 14.

goodes - higgins, maric - zaharakis?? if your worried

not sold re gilbert with new role and that you have goddard already

nice mids..would love to have kennedy, but i have murphy instead

someguy

hmm yeh definitely considering that trade, but really liking the look of goodes atm. maybe i could downgrade gilbert to free up some cash to upgrade maric? I'm thinking Gilbert for either: Murphy, Grundy, Gilbee or Gram meaning I would have enough to get someone around the 310k mark for Maric. thoughts?

Update:

Backs: Goddard, Broughton, Gibbs, Deledio, Grimes, Otten, Heppell, (Toy, Coad, Duigan)

Mids: Swan, Chapman, Boyd, Kennedy, D. Swallow, Harris, (Mzungu, Liberatore, Hibberd)

Rucks: Sandilands, Petrie, (Smith, Derickx)

Forwards: Franklin, Sylvia, Reiwoldt, Goodes, McGlynn, Prestia, Krakouer, (Matera, Richardson, Callinan)

Bank: $56,100

Changes are in bold, but to summarise I went:
Gilbert to Broughton - slight downgrade in price, but scoring should be similar if not better
Knights to McGlynn - Didn't want to get rid of Knights but really wanted McGlynn in my side. Only issue is that I know have both Goodes and McGlynn in the same line. I figure I should be able to move a few players around to cover them during the byes though.
Maric to Matera - cheaper player who is likely to have a similar output to that of Maric. This move allowed me to free up some cash to get McGlynn. This move also ment that I had to promote Prestia into the starting line-up which isn't too concerning.

Some other minor trades were:
Puopolo to Coad - think coad will end up playing more and scoring higher than Puopolo
Wallis to Liberatore - ultimately I will make a decision on which one to take at the end of the pre-season, but after Liberatore's impressive performance against the Lions, he's in front atm.

Thoughts? Have I gone backwards?

very solid team mate. backs almost identical to mine!
56k in the bank, would it be better used on the feild? maybe this should be used to trade mcglynn for someone a bit more pricey. Having goodes and mcglynn may affect you come the bye, also mcglynn hasnt played a full 22 game in quite a while...
other than that mate pretty spot on!

someguy

haha yeh alot of teams are looking the same atm! i'm going for the league win not overall, so cash in the bank becomes very handy. Yeh not sure about goodes/mcglynn, thinking i might go goodes to pav (or someone else around that price) depending on how goodes form looks going into the season and whether or not he spends alot of time deep forward. Still a while till the start of the season, so obviously nothing set in stone yet. thanks for the feedback.
