In an article in the Herald Sun today; it was announced that Cameron Ling will be the captain for Geelong in 2011 while Joel Selwood will lie in his shadow as the Vice-Captain and the one who will replace him when he retires...

What are your thoughts?

Is Ling a good captain overall?
Will the cats win another premiership soon?
Will Selwood be a good captain in the future?
How long till Ling retires?

Selwood will be Captain next year as I thing it is extremely likely this will be Ling's last year. That said I think he will be an awesome Captain, the perfect lead by example leader. This year will just be fine tuning his public speaking & media skills which are increasingly more important these days.

I agree. Joel is our "captain in waiting". Lingy has been an excellent captain and the job will probably be his as long as he wants it.

Ling is a very good leader, and i agree that it will probably be his last year Selwood is going to be a great captain in my opinion

Luigi197

Yeai never really liked Ling and there is no better option that Selwood. Good decision by the Cats

bunyip

There are a few options in my opinion Luigi. Chappy, Bartell, Scarlett, Corey. They would all make excellent captains.

i look at the way they treat others based on maturity
i also look at their face and picture them as a leader
Scarlett looks like one, the other 2 act like one and bartel neither, he just plays good

but thats just me, alot is gut instinct ;D

bunyip

Don't let his "baby face" fool you. he is a gutsy player, and I have never seen him shirk a physical issue.
As a matter of fact, he took the best mark I have EVER seen a few years ago. If a captain has to lead by example, Jimmy ticks the box. :)

RiOtChEsS

Bartel not captain material :-X shame shame shame

Oh well I told u before or was my gut instinct anyway. Will talk more bout this topic in 2012 after ling retires and we discover more vices.

He could keep playing for a few more seasons if he wants to.
