Summary:

Boyd has been an underrated SC star for a couple of years now, and this continued in 2010. The 2009 All-Australian was again in All-Australian form, averaging 120 across the first four rounds, and scoring 12 centuries in his first 16 rounds (he missed rounds 5 and 6 through injury).

What was a bit concerning was his form in rounds 19-22. The rounds that matter for coaches in the finals. Boyd's scores of 88, 83, 84, 88 - whilst extremely consistent - is simply not good enough for premiums in finals, and may have pushed him out of the All-Australian final team.

* Note, have now included prices from m0nty's fan planner. I'm not sure where his number came from but I don't doubt his wisdom! The problem with using m0nty's number is you can't compare players prices in 2010 with 2011 as the scale has changed. So both are included.

There is a feeling that the Dogs maybe on the decline. Will this impact Boyd's scores? Maybe. But I'd back him to average 100 again.

Decision:

Short list for me. Boyd could slip into my starting line-up, especially when we need to balance players between teams this year due to the bye.

The thing is with Cooney fit, it will be between those 2. Will have to wait and see really. Touch and go but voting upgrade target.

I prefer Daniel Cross over Boyd for a midfielder from the Doggies. Boyd manages to get those higher scores, but Cross is just so consistent. He doesn't score extremely big centuries, but he managed 17 which is a very good effort
