Nick Riewoldt

2010 Stats
Games: 11
Total Score: 1198 (Ranked 226th overall, 55th amongst forwards)
Average Score: 108.91 (Ranked 15th overall, 2nd amongst forwards)
High: 171 (Round 20)
Low: 25 (Round 3)
Standard Deviation: 49.48
Centuries: 7 out of 11
Starting Price: $600,500
High Price: $600,500 (round 1)
Lowest Price: $437,700 (round 17)

Summary:

Two rounds into the season and the sky was the limit for St. Kilda superstar Nick Riewoldt. People were trading him in before his price of $605,000 rose, coaches put the big 'C' on him. And then - disaster struck - a hamstring sent shudders through the fantasy world.

Little did they know it would be a blessing in disguise. Riewoldt could be traded for any forward, and his round 3 score of 25 caused his price to plummet as Roo worked his way back into the team, eventually reaching a low at $437,700. He was then prompty traded back in, and Roo's five consecutive centuries from rounds 17-21 - including a monster 171 - had him well and truly back in the good books.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number

Price: $578,400 ($520,600 with 10% discount)
Position: FWD

We would be extremely lucky if Nick Riewoldt was given a 10% discount. I doubt it will happen, but the rule varies year to year. Roo, even at $578,400, could well be underpriced. A great leader, and one of the great key forwards of modern times, Riewoldt should not disappoint.

Decision:

I'd ignore Riewoldt's high standard deviation. It has been inflated by some injury-induced scores, only playing 11 games, and 3 huge 160+ scores. What is more important to note is he scored 7 centuries from 11 rounds. The 4 he didn't score centuries in? The games where he did his hamstring early on, the 2 matches returning from injury, and the dead rubber in round 22.

In the 2nd qualifying final this year, Roo also posted a huge 138. The guy is a superstar.

Build your team around him.

You're right Ossie, ignore the SD, the higher they score, the higher the variance between scores... He is an absolute gun. A definite starter like this year.

Yes I will be going with him next year. He is a solid forward with that work rate he won't have a bad game.

Locked in for me.

Nice price as well, and an even nicer one if discounted which should happen.

EAGLE4LIFE

lock him in much better at sc than dt

Hawka

Locked in with that cheap price and even without discount

Master Q

Everyone who has voted in the poll (12 people) have said locked in  ;)

Alex7089

13 now. Hard to see Roo out of my team next year.

Short of injury in the pre-season (I guess that goes for every player though) Saint Nick will be the first player I lock into my team for 2011
