Summary:

Aaron Sandilands was by far the premier ruckman of the competition this year. He started off with a blaze of glory averaging 125 across the first 8 rounds, before levelling out to 106 across the rest of the season. Sandilands was not a full fitness towards the end of the year, and caused headaches for Supercoaches as he missed the first 3 finals. However, he returned for round 22 and posted a big century repaying the faith in those who had put faith in him (and survived).

Sandilands is a lock for All-Aus ruck this year, and IMO is the most valuable player of 2010.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number

Price: $605,500
Position: RUC

Yes. Sandi is expensive. And yes, his absence in the latter half of the year burned a lot of coaches. But what makes Sandilands so powerful in fantasy terms is the fact that there are no other rucks that come close to him. Jolly, Jamar, Mumford, Hille, Ryder, McIntosh, Clark, Tippett, Kreuzer are all not in the same category. Sandi will average 20 or more than most of those players. The only other player that has shown the same scoring ability as Sandilands is Dean Cox, but Cox is getting old and his body fragile.

Decision:

No brainer. Lock him in!

Or do you disagree?

p.s. Wow! Lots of new threads, great stuff guys

Master Q

Locked in for me.

I've only got 1 thread up (so far, current time 4:07 EST 7/09/10), I'll be getting some more up soon.

roo boys!

Justin Bieber

He is a lock unless I can find 2 much cheaper rucks who I think can score much more than they do know.

Alex7089

I have him locked in. No changing bar LTI

thatguy

sandi and petrie is going to be a very popular ruck combo next yr. throw zac smith and max bailey onto the bench and i reckon a lot of teams will have a similar set-up!

BigV

You will have rocks in your head if you select Cox over Sandi in your starting squad next season. Sandi and Petrie.....2 most popular ruck combo in DT '11 ;D ;D

Justin Bieber

I'm tempted to go Ryder and Cox (still up in the air), put Petrie up forward to gain cash and pocket the 150k.

Crazy Idea? So crazy it might work?

MajorLazer

Just about everyone will pick these two as their rucks and if not I think they will still have sandi in the team, just getting rid of petrie.

HP, every idea is crazy enough to work and I think it could work but I'm not sure about Cox. I think Ryder could be good though and I'm tempted to try and get him in my team.

Justin Bieber

I need a Bombers player and he fits the bill :P. Not sold on Cox but if he shows something pre season, wouldn't be suprised if I ended up starting with him :P. Not a huge risk at that price with his potential output if fully fit.

MajorLazer

Yer I always start by putting Hodge and either Buddy or Cyril into my fanplanners.

Boomz

Definite lock but I think I might go with him & a rookie & have Petrie up fwd with Daw on the ruck bench.
